Kerala Ayurveda Limited
Kerala Ayurveda Limited, founded in 1945, is one of India’s oldest and most trusted Ayurvedic institutions. With a legacy rooted in 5,000 years of Vedic wisdom and 800 years of tradition, it offers a full spectrum of Ayurvedic services, including wellness resorts, hospitals, academies, clinics, and a range of authentic herbal products, operating globally across India and the U.S.
The design system for Kerala Ayurveda began by refining its recently redesigned logo, balancing and correcting the logotype, and expanding its colour palette for both print and digital use. This foundation set the tone for evolving the brand across various communication mediums, all consolidated into a detailed and cohesive brand guideline.
Kerala Ayurveda was structured into three key verticals: Wellness, Academy, and Products. We adopted a singular brand logo strategy, creating distinct design systems tailored to each sector’s unique audience. As the project progressed, we developed new packaging experiences for upcoming products like sparkles, tablets, and patches while executing multiple marketing campaigns across social media, Amazon, and other platforms.
With a portfolio of over 150 products, managing consistency across markets in India and the U.S. was a significant challenge. We established a scalable foundation to ensure every product stays updated and continues to evolve, aligning with the brand’s legacy and global aspirations.
Collaborating with Kerala Ayurveda Limited over four years brought its own set of challenges due to client-defined constraints. However, it also offered the opportunity to craft meaningful experiences that redefined the brand’s identity and expanded its appeal to a new generation of buyers in both India and the U.S. This journey was marked by creative collaboration with talented individuals, both within and outside the organisation. Together, we worked to evolve the brand’s identity, crafting designs that not only elevated its perception but also laid a scalable foundation for future growth.
The partnership was a rewarding blend of tradition and innovation, allowing us to modernise a timeless legacy while honouring its roots. It was an enriching experience that sparked fresh ideas in brand design, paving the way for Kerala Ayurveda’s continued evolution.

Designing a legacy brand comes with its own set of challenges. It’s not just about evolving the brand’s visual identity but also guiding the people behind it through this transformation. As a brand designer, leading the creative direction meant helping the team comprising of doctors, scientists, and other stakeholders to understand and embrace these changes, ensuring they would evolve alongside the brand.
As a key focus was reimagining the packaging experience, ensuring that every interaction left a lasting impression. The designs were created with a “phygital” mindset, seamlessly bridging the physical and digital touchpoints. With over 80 years of history, outdated packaging and an underwhelming online experience were holding the brand back from truly reflecting the quality of its products and services.
This project was a valuable reminder that brand evolution is not a quick fix but a gradual, consistent process, one that requires patience, collaboration, and a shared vision for growth.
From 2020 to late 2024, our collaboration with Kerala Ayurveda Limited was an enriching journey, blending impactful design work with meaningful partnerships. This legacy brand’s evolution involved a range of creative challenges, all managed remotely with a diverse team of talented individuals. We worked on designing brochures, reimagining product packaging, launching marketing campaigns, and crafting a cohesive visual language through photography. Beyond the design, we guided the brand’s internal team through significant transitions, ensuring they embraced and carried forward the changes.
The journey was as much about learning as it was about creating. Managing the design evolution of an 80-year-old brand taught us the value of thoughtful collaboration while deepening our appreciation for Ayurveda’s timeless healing practices. This experience bridged the worlds of design, Ayurveda, and wellness, underlining their connection through the human experience. It reinforced that brand evolution is not just about visuals but about fostering meaningful growth rooted in legacy and authenticity.
