Surya Bakery, nestled within the Central Command Canteen (Surya) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, serves as a hub for fresh, soul-warming food and a training institute for baking enthusiasts. Located in India’s culinary capital, it caters to the needs of Indian Army personnel, offering a welcoming space to relax while also fulfilling their shopping requirements. It operates as part of one of India’s seven prestigious command centres.
The logo of Surya Bakery is inspired by the Sun, or “Surya,” symbolising warmth, energy, and vitality. This central element also reflects the emblem of the Surya Command Centre in Lucknow, seamlessly connecting the bakery to its roots within the Indian Army. The sun’s rays are creatively designed to incorporate spoons and knives, subtly linking the logo to the nourishing food served to army personnel and cadets. This thoughtful integration reflects the essence of Surya Bakery as a place of comfort and community.
The earthy yet vibrant colour palette exudes warmth, approachability, and freshness while maintaining a regal appeal that honours the proud heritage of the armed forces. The bold logotype adds strength and confidence to the visual identity, ensuring it stands out as a strong representation of the brand. This unique and dynamic design not only enhances the bakery’s appeal but also resonates deeply with the community it serves, celebrating tradition, creativity, and purpose.
The design system for this brand was crafted to reflect the warmth and creativity established in its core elements. From packaging to collaterals, we ensured consistency in colours, themes, and design elements across all aspects of the cafe and bakery. By creating versatile variations of the brand logo, we enabled seamless application across diverse mediums and layouts. Maintaining a cohesive brand design theme was paramount, ensuring a unified experience whether inside the bakery, in the cafe, or through external touchpoints like delivery and even the branding on delivery vans. This thoughtful approach not only strengthened the brand’s identity but also reinforced its persona as a quality-conscious establishment dedicated to serving those who serve the nation. The comprehensive design strategy extended the brand’s presence and elevated its perception, resonating with its audience through every interaction and touchpoint.
